One of my friends requested an update on the irises, and it’s only right that we revisit them!
This is the photo that was taken this morning of my iris flower bed, now in full bloom under my bedroom window.
There are the early bloomers, the cream-colored beauties.
The plum purple ones are blooming behind them with golden centers and dark purple beards. Although I dare say they remind me more of wagging tongues than beards.
Some of the latest bulbs to bloom are the sheer golden ones on the corner, the color of egg yolk. They kind of make me hungry!
I got ridiculously excited when I saw the tightly wound buds of the iris on the far right, just before they bloomed. The bud was mostly white with purple tips on the edges. Such a gorgeous bearded one once the petals plumed out!
Also, for my friends back in Missouri, I feel like this collection my brother dug up was no real accident….purple and gold were my high school team colors, and it just feels right to have good ol’ Stoutland High represented in my yard. Go Tigers!
(And yes, Lone Oakers, you too!)
